Are Your L&I Premiums as Low as They Could Be?

(Part 4 of 4)

Over the last three installments, we’ve reviewed the Medical-Only Discount, Claims-Free Discount and how to maximize your Retro refunds. You likely noticed a common theme between all of these – return your injured workers to work absolutely as fast as possible. However, you’re probably asking yourself, “Is the cost of putting someone back to modified-duty work worth it?” It is. In the vast majority of claims, the benefit to your rates and potential Retro refund far outweighs your modified-duty wage expense. Returning your injured employee to work is nearly free when you take advantage of both the L&I Stay at Work (SAW) program and the GRIP Retrun to Work (RTW) incentive program. One hundred percent (100%) of your injured worker’s wages can be reimbursed!

Available to all employers, and funded by a portion of the rates you already pay the state, you are eligible for the following reimbursements through the L&I SAW program:

  • 50% of base wages, up to 66 workdays or $10,000.
  • Up to $2,500 for necessary tools & equipment.
  • Up to $1,000 for necessary training.
  • Up to $400 for necessary clothing.

In addition, the GRIP RTW incentive program will reimburse your company the other 50% of modified-duty wages paid.

Returning an injured employee to work is truly best for your bottom line and your employee. Get more information about the SAW program and the GRIP RTW incentive program so you can start taking advantage today.
